InnovMetric successfully held the 2004 International PolyWorks® User Meeting in Quebec City
Interest in point cloud processing was red hot June 17-18 at the PolyWorks User Meeting in Quebec City. Approximately 120 participants including major scanner manufacturers and service providers came from the USA, Japan, Germany, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Singapore, Taiwan, Mexico, Brazil, and other countries to discuss the multiple leading-edge applications offered by the remarkable PolyWorks® suite. Presenters and attendees from major automotive and aeronautic OEMs and tier-one suppliers engaged in a rich exchange of ideas and best practices as to how PolyWorks’ tools are being used to optimize their inspection, quality control, and reverse-engineering tasks. The event also featured in-depth presentations to surveyors and long-range scanner manufacturers on civil engineering, architectural, and heritage preservation applications.
Keynote presentations by Ronald A. Pryka, Superintendent DMCO at General Motors, Peter Hoff, Chief Engineer at BMW AG, and Yasuhiko Miwata, Project General Manager at Toyota Motors Corporation demonstrated how their organizations have integrated PolyWorks into their manufacturing processes and have generated major time and cost reduction breakthroughs. Iain Christie, Director of R&D at Neptec, also presented how NASA successfully tested a laser scanner for on-orbit inspection of space shuttles using PolyWorks as part of the analysis suite to detect and quantify damage to shuttle surfaces.
Company represented at the 2004 PolyWorks User Meeting included Boeing, Bombardier, CAE Electronics, FBI, Ford Motor, General Electric, General Motors, Honda Motor, Mack Trucks, Nissan Design, Northway Photomap, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, Toyota Co, and several others.
